Service Description

This small-group nature walk along Ward Creek offers a relaxed way to experience Ketchikan's Tongass National Forest. Follow a peaceful, well-maintained trail at a comfortable pace - perfect for those who want to enjoy the beauty of Alaska's Rainforest without the intesity of a longer hike. Led by a local guide, you'll take in quiet forest surroundings, fresh air andscenic creek views along the way. √ Great for beginners or those wanting an easier hike √ Ideal for a slower-paced, more relaxed experience While this trail is easy, it is unpaved. This is not recommended for those who have health issues or injuries that require help or frequent stopping. This trail does have hills and loose gravel. Check the weather before arriving in port. Things you need to know - * You will be provided a cinch backpack to use during the hike. * A healthy snack ie - fresh fruit, trail mix, granola, jerky etc. and a bottle of water will be provided. * I will be meeting you at the Visitors Center on berth 2 or at Ward Cove if prescheduled. * Dress accordingly. Layers, coats, and rain gear may be needed as Southeast Alaska can have very unpredictable weather. * Shoes and socks that are comfortable and that you do not mind getting dirty or wet. Athletic/cross-training/running shoes with good tread are fine for most or hiking shoes or trail shoes. casual shoes or canvas shoes like Converse are not recommended. * This is an alcohol-free, drug-free, and tobacco-free tour. * We will be following the 7 principles of Leave No Trace. There will be bathroom facilities near the trailhead but not along the trails. If there is a need to go during the hike, WAG bags will be provided. * Island Girl Hiking Co. is committed to making sure that you arrive back at the berth before your re-embark time.
